The main principles of Narrative Paradigm are coherence and fidelity. Coherence is all about how ideas are glued together, either to engage interaction or to persuade others. While fidelity focuses on the credibility of these ideas. Since Narrative Paradigm holds that people are not just after the emotional appeal of a sentence's context, but we are also after the truthfulness of ideas.
2. How is the Narrative Paradigm different from the Constructivism Paradigm?
Narrative paradigm explains that we communicate in the form of storytelling. The whole communication process consists of a story teller and a listener. The listener chooses the stories to believe in and those stories shape the reality they believe in. On the other hand, Constructivism paradigm holds that our way of communicating with others is affected by our culture; our culture is formed through interaction and engagement with our family, school, church, law or basically society. Culture shapes how we perceive the world.
3. Using Narrative Paradigm, explain "The Philippines At Present."
On social media, especially on Facebook, anyone is free to share their thoughts, opinions, and stories. Our group has observed that Filipinos are one of the most active Facebook users throughout the world. Due to this, there is now a great amount of stories coming from all members of society. There are those from the side of the government,. private companies, protesters, victims, etc. When a Facebook user encounters different sides to a specific story, he or she becomes confused of what to believe in because of the flow of too much information and contradicting details. Not knowing what or who to believe in, because of multiplicity of narratives, this situation creates passive individuals.
While there are those who chose to ignore all these stories, there are people who select the stories to believe in by following certain pages and people. By exposing the self to selected narratives that coincide with their beliefs, these people become blind of other perspectives. They do this because those stories are those that make sense and sound true to them based on how they view the world.
